SONGWRITER PAUL WILLIAMS ELECTED PRESIDENT AND CHAIRMAN OF ASCAP
On 16th April it was announced that Paul Williams was to be the new President & Chairman of ASCAP.
Paul Williams said:
"It's a great
honor and privilege to be elected President and Chairman of the Board of ASCAP.
On behalf of my fellow Board members, I would like to thank Marilyn for her
extraordinarily productive work and the dedication she has shown over the last
fifteen years. The ability to make a viable living from creating music is of
critical importance not just to songwriters and composers, but also to our
society as a whole."
Paul's friend and fellow songwriter Jimmy Webb was elected writer Vice Chairman
to replace Williams, who held that post for the prior two years.

PAUL WILLIAMS CURRENT PROJECTS
CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE STAGE
Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield created the `Chicken Soup for The Soul' book series (See here). The New York Times `Ten Year Top 100' best seller list includes 6 of those books. They've sold over 100 million and they're basically inspirational stories that are designed to motivate and comfort .. Over the years they've been edited for specific groups .. Chicken soup for the golfers soul .. the convicts .. the teenager .. the boating soul .. etc. etc.
I met Mark and he thought it was a natural for us to team up. He and his wife Patty .. (a regular contributor to the books) and I are going to write a book together .. Chris Caswell and I will provide the songs. The goal is to create `Chicken Soup for the Stage' ... an inspirational musical about ... well, what it's about will be decided when we begin working on it.
